THAKSIN CLEARED TO DEPOSE C-O-C-K-N-E-Y MAFIA

Former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra has purchased Newcastle United from Mike Ashley, deposing what many fans had begun to call, "The C-o-c-k-n-e-y Mafia." The deal has brought Shinawatra back to the Premier League after a three year absence. Shinawatra has forked over roughly £150m to purchase the club, and has said that he intends to bankroll money into the club to compete with the men he sold Manchester City to.
Shinawatra owned Manchester City for just over a year, and has a good track record as an owner. After buying the club in summer 07, he brought in Sven Goran Eriksson as his manager and followed that up with around £50m of spending by the Swede. While results were finished, City broke modern records for the club in that season. Eventually, due to allegations back in Thailand of corruption, his assets were frozen, and he sold the club to the Abu Dhabi United Group after just one season.
Now, with his assets unfrozen, Thaksin is back, this time as owner of Newcastle United, a dormant giant of British football. He has a worth of around £2.6 billion, and is expected to make a significant outlay into the club this summer. He remains popular with the Thai people, and has been vindicated for most of the charges brought against his government. Perhaps most importantly, on appeal, he has been able to pass the Premier League's fit and proper persons test, showing both the finances and the character to be allowed into the hallowed group of owners.
Shinawatra told The Daily Mirror, "Politics is a funny game. Despite all of the allegations, the lies, and the hatred for me from a minority, justice prevailed, and I've been cleared of most charges. I loved owning Manchester City, and I wanted to be back in football. Newcastle needed some fresh investment, really a clean up operation. I intend to fix up the club, make it proper again. The supporter's can be sure of it, and I hope to be as good for Newcastle as I was for City, perhaps, better."
The Newcastle United Supporter's Trust issued their own statement, saying, "While we appreciate Mr.Shinawatra's efforts to remove Mike Ashley from the ownership role at Newcastle United, we can't help but be wary of his past. Still, he has been cleared of much of the charges, has a large wallet, and a track record as an owner that makes us happy. He can expect our full support, a fresh late if you will. We will, however, continually monitor his progress with the political issues he has faced, and should he be charged of anything in a convincing manner, we will urge him to leave the club."|||

CLEAN UP TIME SEES COCKNEY MAFIA FINISHED OFF

Thaksin Shinawatra has followed through on his promises to clean the club of the shambles that was the Mike Ashley era by axing both managing director Derek Llambias and manager Alan Pardew. The duo were long term friends of Ashley, and seen by many as his peons. With their master having departed the club after selling his shares to Thaksin, they have agreed mutual termination of their contracts.
Whilst Llambias declined to comment, Pardew did address the fans, saying, "In my short time at Newcastle United, I did only what I thought was best for the club, and wanted to continue to do so. Unfortunately, the new owner did not want me to be at the club as part of his exciting project for the future, so I agreed to terminate my contract. I wish the club the greatest of success in the future, and will attend games at certain points during the season."
Thaksin Shinawatra issued his own response though, stating, "The men who brought down the institution that was Newcastle United are gone today, shamed away from this club. After many unhappy years, fans can truly celebrate the end of the c-o-c-k-n-e-y mafia. I intend to find apt and capable replacement's in the near future, and in the mean time, I encourage the supporter's trust to get in touch and discuss who they feel is right to succeed these roles."

Dein Granted Chairmanship Of Newcastle United

Former Arsenal chairman David Dein has been appointed chairman of Newcastle United Football Club. Dein has put pen to paper on a long term arrangement to mastermind Thakin Shinawatra's tenure at the club. He has replaced former Sporting Director Derek Llambias, who was ousted by Shinawatra upon the completion of the takeover bid. While their roles may be different in name, the position is one and the same, and their will be no new sporting director.
Shinawatra briefly said, "David Dein is amongst the most revered figures in European Football, having chaired the G-14, Arsenal, and indeed the Premier League. He was the man behind Arsenal's rise to prominence in the Premier League era and is a true visionary. With his extensive ability, I am of the opinion that the club can go very far."
The Newcastle Supporter's Trust was in agreement, adding, "Dein is amongst the most venerable and knowledgeable figures in modern football. He is surely the right choice to replace Llambias, and we feel that Mr.Shinawatra has sent us a strong statement of intent with this move. We would like to thank him for that, and wish to wish David the best of luck in taking us as far as he took Arsenal."
Dein himself issued a small statement, "I am honored to be handed the reigns of Newcastle United Football Club. This is one of the most powerful and historic institutions in football, and I hope to revive it's fortunes. It's been mismanaged in recent year's, but the owner has previously proven his ability to back a revival in fortunes. I was tempted by the project, and hope to bring my talents to the table in an effective manner."

THE THIRD COMING OF THE MESSIAH

Newly installed Chairman of Newcastle United Football Club David Dein has moved quickly to appoint a manager for the club, bringing in Kevin Keegan for a third stint at the club. The fans' favorite has signed a five year contract to try and revive the club's fortunes again.
Keegan, or King Kev as he is better known, played for Newcastle from 1982-84 at the tail end of his career. Some top level performances quickly made him popular amongst the supporters. Eight years after retiring, Keegan returned to Newcastle, this time as a manager. He led the club to the brink of Premier League success twice, but ended up runner's up twice. This upshot in the fortunes of the club led to him being dubbed, "The Messiah." He resigned after five year's, claiming he could no longer take the club onwards and upwards. He managed Fulham, Manchester City, and even England, before returning to the helm in 2008, with the club seeming destined for the drop. He pulled off some magic, however, and saved them from relegation before resigning due to disputes with the board after Dennis Wise, Llambias, and Ashley went over his head to sign Xisco.
While Shinawatra and Dein faded into the dark, Keegan did address the media, saying, "I've been a Premier League manager for many years, but I've never been given the task of managing a project like this. I love this club, and despite failing twice, I'll be third time lucky. I intend on leading this club into the upper echelon of football, where Newcastle United will extend their influence, not only in England, but into Europe as well."
