EA - How is growth SUPPOSED to work? (Constructive question, no bitchin...)

Dear EA (EA_FLT, PWRIDE or whoever should be adressed by this)
Here's a litte constructive feedback and questions for you, concerning CM and player growth.
First of all, I'm playing mainly offline, PS3 250gb, Sweden, wired connection.
Just started a new CM after the patch, and the patch does seem to work, as 3 players have grown after only 6 games in the PL.
However, these are all between 22-24 yrs old (Coentrao, Affelay, Matuidi), while younger players do not seem to grow, even though they are labeled as "high potential, give playing time". This is an observation that seems to be coherent with what most other CM players are experiencing.
Therfore, I have a simple question: How is player growth supposed to work, and what controls it? A proper answer to this would be very relavant for the player community, and would (I hope) drastically reduce the nuymber of "Growth is *** broken dammit! f*** you EA!!!" -posts in the forum , which would benefit us all!
So, match rating, achievements, age, position... what/which is it, and to what degree?
BTW gameplay seem improved in many subtle ways since the patch. Well done!
Thanks!|||Answer is: They dont know! And they dont care.|||

I hope they do know, since they created this...
Lets just see if they answer this, shall we? :)|||EA ROM said last week he was going to find out this information and let us know the mechanics. He hasn't as yet.
I think it's simple - players don't grow until they're 21/22. It's impossible for teenagers, even those with high potential and obviously stars to grow. This annoys the majority of CM players as bringing through kids is the main part of it. To add to this, EA also decided that if a player isn't in your starting 11 he's at risk of being taken down in OVR.
So, you're left with a situation where if you play your teenagers you can't improve them, if you don't - there's every chance they'll go backwards.
I've said this before but in my CM, Lukaku will have 5 Prem titles, 5 FA cups, 5 league cups, 4 community shields, and 4 European cups without improving. Oh, and 5 golden boots too. After 5 years of CM, there are no young players rated 80. EA have decided that while young stars such as Higuain and Dzeko etc can exist in 2010, this will never again happen in football after this year.

Ok. thanks. Could you please post a link to the post where he said this?
EA_ROM, if you are reading this, there is no time like the present! |||http://forum.ea.com/uk/posts/list/990/56764.page
Halfway down page 34 if it doesn't go to the right page.|||

I like your enthusiasm. Very positive seriously. I used to like you. Even wrote thank you letter just before FIFA11 release.
Now I learn new skill in life... being patient. |||bring back manual, AS A OPTION. standard you'd get auto-growth, but if you select manual player growht, you could do it.|||

Sure, why not. But i definately think fixing "normal" growth should be the first priority.
Perhaps you should be given the option of chosing for each player which areas to focus on when improving. If you have an attacker with great physical abilities, you might be able to chose Finishing or Dribbling as the traits to focus on "in training".
Still waiting for a reply to the initial question though... |||Bump.
Really feel this deserves an answer! |||Definitely a good thread to keep up.
We've had nothing but complaints and speculation on the forums for what, 7 weeks now since release? I do really like to think that the patch we were given fixed a lot, but a lot of fundamental errors beneath, stuff that isn't directly noticeable but necessary to set the groundwork for the wholesale fixes required in the next patch.
If we get a working growth system then hey, I can deal with the micro-freezing. It's nowhere near as annoying as the FIFA 10 "pause for 2.5 seconds, go for 0.5 seconds, then pause again for 1.5 second" version. Had the same microfreezing in WC2010. Wasn't fixed then, now it's consumed them entirely? At least a random but complete 3 second pause can be dealt with. It's farcical that the best youth players in the world don't grow. There's no avoiding a fix there, it would be wrong for them to leave something so fundamental to the game unaddressed.|||http://forum.ea.com/uk/posts/list/65658.page
poll to bring back the option of manual (as well as a working auto)|||So, PWride has posted in another thread today that career mode growth was never going to be changed (he actually said re-written), they only tried to fix the negative display glitch in the patch. It reads 100% that it's not an issue they will address at all.
They know they got it badly wrong, they just cannot be seen to admit it now. FIFA 12 is your next patch. So disappointing.|||

Yeah, I saw that
Still, shouldn't stop them from explaining how it is supposed to work. Will help us knowing what is a bug and what is poor design, that will hopefully be improved upon in Fifa 12.|||Well, EA ROM has not even bothered to post about the growth mechanics, positive or negative, so that little promise will be forgotten. Most likely he was told to forget it.
